LA’S TOP TELEVISION NEWSWOMEN
LAUNCH ‘THE GOOD NEWS FOUNDATION’

Beverly Hills, CA.,  September, 2006
–-  The Good News Foundation, announces the launch of a groundbreaking non-profit organization dedicated to making a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of people in need and at risk in greater Los Angeles.

We are ‘pleased to report’ that the kick-off event of The Good News Foundation was a huge success!  The Beverly Hills luncheon took place on Saturday, November 18th and brought together an unprecedented gathering of LA’s top television news anchors, reporters, and producers. Together, this group creates a powerful network to support numerous community organizations.

The Foundation’s charitable coverage will include awarding academic scholarships, providing mentors to young women who want to become broadcasters,  and giving out ‘Good News Grants’ to people and organizations dedicated to making a positive difference in the communities this group covers on a daily news basis.

What’s next for this group?  The women of Los Angeles television news will be collecting  all of their old reporter and anchor clothes (the ones that have seen more than their fair share of airtime)—and  will be giving the shirts and jackets off their backs to Dress For Success Los Angeles, a non-profit organization providing disadvantaged women with the wardrobe they need to enter the professional workforce. The Good News Foundation is chaired by Wendy Burch, of KABC-TV, and co-chaired by Pat Harvey of KCAL-TV, as well as Christine Devine and Dorothy Lucey of KTTV-TV.
